Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Welcome to the Homily Archive of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Catholic Church. Here you will find the Sunday homilies and reflections I offer each week at our Divine Liturgy — preserved so that the word proclaimed in our small community in Toronto might continue to nourish, instruct, and accompany you throughout the week.
The homily is not a lecture. It is a pastoral act — an attempt, however imperfect, to break open the word of God for a particular community in a particular moment. The Scriptures are inexhaustible, and every Sunday brings a new opportunity to encounter the living Christ in the readings the Church places before us.
As an Armenian Catholic community, we inherit a liturgical tradition that stretches back to the very dawn of Christianity in Armenia — a tradition shaped by the witness of the holy martyrs, the theological wisdom of the great Doctors of the Armenian Church, and above all by the mystery of Christ crucified and risen. When we gather for the Armenian Rite Divine Liturgy, we are not simply observing a custom. We are stepping into a river of prayer that has flowed for nearly two millennia.
It is my hope that these homilies, imperfect as they are, will serve as a small tributary to that great river. Browse by date, share with a friend, and above all, bring the word with you into your week.
May the intercession of St. Gregory the Illuminator, Enlightener of Armenia, be with us always.
